FOR ONE IN DARKNESS
Is it a comfort to the mind to know
That other minds have been enclosed in night,
And that all nights, however dark they grow,
End in eventual & increasing light?
Each man is individual & alone,
Tramping the desert at his spirits core
Where all advice is dead, all friends unknown,
And faith & reason wage increasing war –
But others walked that desert & that night,
Crossed the uncharted lands where you must go,
And found the green oases & the light …
Is it a comfort to the mind to know?
